ABOUT US

Student Innovators (SINN) is the University of Cyprus student competition featuring early-stage business ideas! Student teams are invited to present creative ideas and solutions for challenging problems with an impact on the economy and/or society in a 5-minute “pitch” to a panel of judges and the audience.

The Student Innovators Competition forges a public forum at the University of Cyprus where students of various courses in innovation, entrepreneurship, and creativity present the results of selected team projects. The competition is a part of the broader effort of the university to train a steady stream of graduates with activities that increase their employability and enterprise ability.

ENTRY GUIDELINES & CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

  • The competition is open to teams (of a maximum of 5 participants) and individuals who are students (graduate, postgraduate, and PhD candidates) at the University of Cyprus.

  • The proposals must be submitted via online application by clicking 'apply' on this website and filling out the online application.

  • At most, 10 applications will be selected as finalists and invited to pitch their ideas in English or Greek within 5 minutes to a panel of judges and the public, followed by a 5-minute Q&A session.

  • For the presentation pitch, you can use slides. If you have a working prototype, a video, or a live demonstration, you can show it during your talk, but this should not add time to your presentation beyond the 5 minutes.

  • You can only submit one idea per team.

  • Individuals must participate in only one team.

  • Applications for the final 10 of Student Innovators 2026 will be selected based on the Criteria mentioned as above.

  • Student Innovators (SINN) reserves the right to use and publish the title and brief description of the project in the application form, on its websites, and in other media outlets. However, other details submitted on the proposal will be kept confidential. If you are concerned about protecting your idea, do not put any protected information in your short description.

  • By applying, you agree to abide by the University’s Rules, Regulations, and Academic code of conduct regarding academic integrity and plagiarism. Violating these regulations by a participating team or member thereof may render their participation void.

  • The SINN Evaluation Committee reserves the right to exclude any application that, in their sole and absolute discretion, determines it does not fit within the Entry Guidelines and Conditions of Participation of the Competition.

*Please note that it does not mean that mature ideas or projects have any advantage over an initial idea.
